Later she's told the baby died, but she doesn't believe it. Neither does Weezy. Neither does Jack.
All these interlocking plots mean doom for humanity. But Jack never gives up or gives in.

Im Gegensatz zu den bisherigen Handyman-Jack-Romanen spielt dieser NICHT wenige Wochen nach dem vorherigen Fall. Diesmal ist mehr als ein halbes Jahr vergangen. Die Geschichte beginnt mit Munir, dessen Frau und Sohn entführt wurden und der vom Entführer zu waghalsigen Aktionen gezwungen wird. Nach einigem Zögern hilft Jack ihm bei seinem Problem, versucht aber gleichzeitig auch den Septimus-Orden im Auge zu behalten, der offenbar einen Angriff auf das Internet plant. Und dann sind da auch noch das Teenagermädchen Dawn und die unmittelbar bevorstehende Geburt ihres Kindes. Jack hat also mal wieder alle Hände voll zu tun. Gekonnt gut verwebt Autor F. Paul Wilson die einzelnen Handlungsstränge bis zum großen Showdown.
Leider aber bleiben auch danach wieder etliche Fragen offen. Eine Lösung für das Hauptproblem wird zumindest in diesem Buch nicht gefunden und auch sonst bleiben einige Handlungsstränge in der Luft hängen. Aber so wie ich Wilson kenne, folgen die Erklärungen und/oder Fortsetzungen dafür einfach im nächsten Band. Schön fand ich, dass Weezys Auftritt im vorherigen Band kein einmaliger Besuch war (wie so viele andere Nebencharaktere der früheren Romane), sondern sie inzwischen offenbar ein fester Bestandteil der Gruppe geworden ist.
Eben weil das Romanende mal wieder sehr offen war, bin ich schon sehr auf das letzte reguläre Repairman-Jack-Abenteuer "The dark at the end" gespannt.
